Julia Campbell is the Deputy Chief of Streets for Infrastructure and Design. Within the Streets Cabinet, her team is responsible for designing and constructing capital improvements to sidewalks, streets, and bridges in the City of Boston. Her experience spans both policy and implementation across the fields of planning, engineering, and governance. Her career has focused on advancing the practices of transportation planning and engineering to support low carbon mode shares that improve the health, wellness, and economic prosperity of the communities that need it most. She has led infrastructure projects improving active transportation safety, supportive programs and legislation, as well as graduate level instruction on active transportation planning. Julia has committed her career to environmental justice and addressing climate change, including research on greenhouse gas life cycle analysis, and city, county and state programs, projects, policy and legislation to enable and support low carbon transportation.
